Code 1934 AAR Brake Cylinder Lubricant

AAR Brake Cylinder Lubricant is an anhydrous calcium soap thickened grease containing oxidation and corrosion inhibitors. It is formulated to meet the Association of American Railroads (AAR) Specification M-914-83.

AAR Brake Cylinder Lubricant is recommended for lubricating the pistons and cylinders in railroad locomotive, freight and passenger car brake systems.

Code 1932 Aluminum Complex EP 1

Aluminum Complex EP 1 is an aluminum complex grease consisting of an ISO 220 base oil and special additives to provide outstanding load carrying and water resistance properties.

Product Application

Aluminum Complex EP 1 is intended for use in heavily loaded equipment operating under adverse conditions. It is especially recommended for grease lubricated bearings in steel mills where its outstanding water resistance characteristics, EP properties, oxidation stability and high dropping point eliminate the need for multiple greases throughout the plant. The product performs well in roll neck bearings using both sealed and automatic lubrication systems.

Aluminum Complex EP 1 is an aluminum complex soap grease formulated using an ISO 220 base oil and special additives to provide maximum load carrying ability and resistance to water washout. The product is fortified with an extreme pressure (EP) package to enhance its natural load carrying ability.

Code 191 2 Coupling Grease

Coupling Grease is specially formulated with a lithium soap/polymer thickener, which has superior resistance to oil separation when subjected to the high centrifugal forces normally found in couplings.

Product Application

Coupling Grease is recommended for all types of grease lubricated couplings used in industrial equipment. Common grease lubricated couplings include:

  1. Geared Couplings which have internal and external spur gears that mesh within a common rotating hub connecting the shafts.
  2. Steel Grid Couplings which have a convoluted band of flexible spring steel physically linking the hubs together.
  3. Flexible Chain Couplings which have a roller chain that meshes with a sprocket cut in each mating hub.

Advance technology has enabled Coupling Grease to perform beyond the normal 6 month change interval. In actual field experience this grease has shown its ability to perform satisfactorily beyond 3 years. This product should be used in all grease couplings, especially in those hard to service or those operating under severe conditions.

Because of its high base oil viscosity, Coupling Grease is also suitable for use in other industrial applications where the equipment is subject to high water wash, low speeds and heavy or shock loads.

Product Description and Features

Coupling Grease has a consistency which overlaps the NLGI grades 0 and 1. This grease is specially formulated with a lithium/polymer thickener and fortified with corrosion, oxidation, extreme pressure and an effective rust inhibitor additive package.

Its high viscosity base oil and tackifier combine to keep the grease in place and prevent separation. In the ASTM D 4425, High Speed Centrifugal Test, which develops G forces in excess of 36,000 at 15,000 rpm, Coupling Grease exhibits little or no oil separation.

Crater lubricants are available in 7 grades and range in viscosity from a heavy oil to a semi-solid at normal ambient temperatures. Crater 0 is a residual straight mineral oil,. Crater A, 2X, and 5X are residual compounded oils, while Fluid M and Fluid H are residual compounded oils diluted with a high flash solvent to allow for easier application. They are recommended for the lubrication of wire ropes, chains, flexible couplings, gears and sliding surfaces of drag lines and shovels, and open gears of mine hoists, ball mills, rubber mixers, cement mills, clay products industries, construction equipment, dredging equipment as well as other applications where a heavy, adhesive oil is required. Crater CSF is a sprayable lithium soap thickened open gear lubricant which is chlorinated-solvent free (CSF).

Product Application

Crater A is primarily intended for the lubrication of wire rope exposed to both low temperature and severe weather conditions or where the presence of water requires the use of a specially compounded product. It can be applied without heating; will remain pliable under most ambient conditions. Crater A can be applied through a mechanical lubricator to both chains and wire rope.

Crater 0 is primarily intended for use on open gears, chains and wire ropes. Due to its pour point, both ambient and operating temperatures must be considered in selecting Crater 0 for a particular application.

Crater 2X and 5X were developed specifically to give the user all the benefits of Crater where water conditions are involved and where the lubricant must withstand washing action. They also meet the performance requirements of AGMA Lubricant Nos. 14R and 15R, respectively.

Crater Fluids M and H were developed to provide the benefit of heavy oil lubricants, but with easier application characteristics. They are viscous materials thinned by a high flash point, chlorine-free solvent to permit application by brushing, swabbing, dipping, spraying, drip cup or spout type can. The high flash solvent evaporates after application leaving a very viscous, tenacious oil film. This solvent is not considered to be flammable by DOT and OSHA standards. However, caution should be exercised when considering these products for applications exposed to open flame or spark sources (kilns, etc). Both products, without solvent, meet the performance requirements of AGMA Lubricant Nos. 14R and 15R, respectively.

Crater CSF is primarily intended for gear applications where design prevents the use of a flood type lubrication system in a tight, leak-free enclosed gearbox. Intermittent spray or hand application of a heavy adhesive type lubricant is instead employed to provide the necessary lubrication of the gears. Often these gear sets are slow speed, large diameter, heavily loaded units where the lubricant minimizes or eliminates excessive wear by preventing metal-to-metal contact at the gear tooth mesh. It is suitable for use where AGMA 14R and 15R lubricants are recommended and lubricant application can be a pressurized delivery system or hand application. Typical applications include open ring gear and pinion drives, reduction gearing of kilns, furnaces, ball and roll mills, chemical agitators and mixers, crushers, pulverizes, drum-dryer drives, presses and grinders. It is also suitable for exposed pump drives, chain and sprocket drives, fifth wheel, turn tables, dipper sticks and fork lift rails.

Crater 2X and SX are residual compounded oils with a high pour point and provide all the benefits of Crater where water conditions are involved. They also meet the performance requirements of AGMA Lubricants Nos. 14R and 15R, respectively

Crater Fluids M and H are residual compounded oils cutback with a non-chlorinated solvent to allow easier application. The solvent used is an aliphatic hydrocarbon with a closed cup flash point greater than 220'F. This solvent is not considered to be flammable by DOT and OSHA standards. Both products, without solvent, meet the performance requirements of AGMA Lubricants No. 14R and 15R, respectively.

Crater CSF is an NLGI 0 lithium grease containing a high viscosity base oil (ISO 1000) and fortified with extreme pressure additives, molybdenum disulfide and graphite to provide outstanding wear protection to shock or heavily loaded gears. It contains special tackifiers which provide excellent adhesion to metal parts and resists water wash-off and squeezing out under pressure. This product maintains a "grease-like" consistency over a temperature range of 0 to 300'F. It is chlorinated solvent-free to facilitate disposal of used lubricant in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Older asphaltic-based products used for open gear lubrication sometimes trap dirt and wear particles and form a hard deposit in the gear tooth root area. These deposits could distort the tooth profile causing premature wear. Crater CSF does not create these deposits and results in a much cleaner appearance in service.

Cygnus Greases are specially formulated polyurea greases for use in equipment in the food industry where incidental contact with lubricants may occur. Cygnus Greases are formulated in accordance with U.S. FDA regulation 21 CFR 178.3570, and are authorized as H- 1 lubricants by the USDA.

Product Application

Cygnus Greases are intended for the lubrication of machinery in meat and poultry plants, canneries, beverage plants and other food processing applications. Cygnus Greases may be used to lubricate electric motors, pumps, conveyors, mixers, gear units, slides and ways.

The 904 Grease series consists of calcium soap greases fortified with graphite for use as track rail lubricants, or where a grease containing graphite is required.

Product Application

The frictional forces developed by steel train wheels rolling on the rail combined with the steering force ' s exerted by the rail rubbing against the wheel increases energy consumption and accelerates the wear of both wheel (tread and flange) and rail. This can be a serious problem, particularly for systems operating heavily loaded unit trains or those having numerous curves. Proper lubrication of the rail at critical locations can significantly lower maintenance costs and increase fuel efficiency.

Both 904 Grease and 904 Grease W are formulated to meet the pumpability and load carrying requirements of a track lubricant. Extensive service testing has demonstrated their ability to improve wheel and track life, while reducing the frictional forces and increasing fuel efficiency.

MCP Greases are lithium soap greases containing corrosion and oxidation inhibitors. They are specifically formulated for the lubrication of mechanical cotton picker machines.

Product Application

MCP Greases are specifically designed for the lubrication of cotton-picker spindles, picker bars, and chassis bearings of John Deere, IHC-McCormick and Case mechanical cotton pickers. The light mineral oil component of MCP Greases facilitates spindle lubrication and insures good pumpability. Molytex EP greases are Texaco's multipurpose lithium extreme pressure (EP) greases containing molybdenum disulfide (moly). They are primarily intended for construction, mining and agricultural equipment applications. Molytex EP 2 also meets the requirements of ASTM D 4950 Service Classification LB for automotive service.

Product Application

Construction, mining and agricultural applications for Molytex EP greases include virtually all points of grease lubrication found on dozers, scrapers, earthmovers, cranes, backhoes, shovels, rollers, tractors, combines, and cotton pickers. These lubrication points include all types of anti-friction bearing arrangements from pain sleeve-type to rolling element bearings, as well as bushings and other sliding surface or pivot points. Molytex EP has been successfully used in constant velocity joints (CV-joint) in front wheel drive automobiles, universal joints (U-joints) and for chassis lubrication. The presence of moly provides added shock loading protection. Molytex EP greases are formulated to perform well in conditions of high loads and temperature extremes. Additionally, Molytex EP greases provide excellent resistance to rust and corrosion and are resistant to water washout.

Molytex EP greases are lithium soap thickened greases containing a special EP additive package and 3% molybdenum disulfide. Molytex EP greases provide protection against shock loading and corrosion. Molytex EP 0 is recommended for those applications where very cold weather and/or long lubricant feed lines are a problem.

The presence of moly provides an extra measure of protection in shock loading situations which are very common in both construction and agricultural usage. During heavy shock loading the lubricant film between metal surfaces can be temporarily ruptured or squeezed out. By using a moly grease, a film remains to prevent metal-tometal contact which could cause equipment damage. The presence of moly is also valuable in dirty environments or when proper re-greasing intervals are not followed. Some moly tends to stay in place and protect metal surfaces even when not enough grease is used.

Multifak HD 00 is a lithium soap grease containing an ISO 680 base oil and tackifier for use primarily in gear drives which specify grease lubrication.

Product Application

Multifak HD 00 is a semi-fluid grease which is used primarily in gear drives calling for a semi-fluid grease. These gear doves are usually not well sealed and a conventional gearbox oil would leak out. Gang mowers pulled behind tractors for golf course maintenance is a common application. These mowers transmit the rolling motion of the wheels to the cutting blades via a gear drive system which is packed with grease. The product is also suitable for gearboxes which drive stirrers in mixing and reactor vessels. Multifak HD 00 should not be used in applications which require extreme pressure (EP) greases.

Multifak HD 00 is a lithium soap grease containing an ISO 680 base oil. This base oil provides excellent film thickness for gear lubrication. The product contains both corrosion and oxidation inhibitors for equipment protection and longer service life. Rialstar EP 1 and 2 are lithium soap greases fortified with a specifically formulated multipurpose additive package for use as railroad track lubricants. These greases may also find applications in construction, mining and agricultural equipment

The frictional forces developed by steel train wheels on the rail combined with the steering forces exerted by the rail rubbing against the wheel increases energy consumption and accelerates the wear of both wheel (tread and flange) and rail. Starplex Premium 1 is intended for use in heavily loaded equipment operating under adverse conditions. TMGL Heavy is a lithium soap thickened traction motor gear lubricant using a high viscosity base oil blend and a sulfur/phosphorus extreme pressure agent. The Brookfield Apparent Viscosity (BAV) is in the range of 15,000-20,000 cP at 200'F TMGL Heavy is best used in situations where leakage is a major problem.

TMGL Premium is comparable to TMGL Heavy but has a slightly lower BAV range of 5,000-10,000 cP at 200'F The decrease in BAV can be attributed to a slightly lower lithium soap thickener content. TMGL Premium was developed for railroads preferring a lighter product than TMGL Heavy and for cold weather operations.
